HMIS (Hazardous Materials Identification System)

A four part numerical rating system for communicating basic hazard information about a chemical or substance. Health, Flammability, and Physical hazard, are rated from 0 to 4, with 4 being “severe hazard”. The last section is for “personal protection” recommendations, if any. A products HMIS rating is typically displayed on the product label.
