DOUBLING

A mechanical problem on the press that causes a double image, slightly offset from the original image, which usually shows-up in type or halftone dots. Doubling is an indication that the blanket is not lining-up with the plate precisely with every revolution. Improper blanket touque is a common cause, but doubling can also indicate a more serious mechanical problem with the press.
