COF (coefficient of friction)

A measurement of the amount of “slip” between two surfaces placed face-to-face. Usually expressed as two numbers: (1) The amount of force required to get slippage to occur; and (2) the amount of force required to maintain slippage. Typically expressed in “grams” of force. COF is a consideration in selecting the appropriate coating in some printing situations. See also: “slide angle”
